“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you”
– Maya Angelou
This is such a powerful quote. For so many decades, I had kept hidden the agony of my childhood. I didn’t want to remember what had happened to me. Only recently did I remember and give voice to the story inside me. Finally sharing my story with others made me feel powerful and whole. I felt light and pure, capable of giving and receiving love again. Now I have a new beginning, a new dawn to live life on my terms and no longer remain a prisoner of the last. Yes! We must release the stories and lesson the agony within.
Sunday Blessings to everyone. Sharing lyrics from a beautiful song! This song has special meaning for me especially the last verse. No matter how lonely, how broken, how alone in this world one might feel.. Just remember inside all of us is the capacity to bloom into a beautiful rose. The light within us is strong, sometime it diminishes and we must find a way to reignite it- but it is always with us. Love yourself first and those that are meant to love you will find a way back to you.
Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger,
An endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower,
And you its only seed.
It’s the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance.
It’s the dream afraid of waking
That never takes the chance.
It’s the one who won’t be taken,
Who cannot seem to give,
And the soul afraid of dyin’
That never learns to live.
When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun’s love
In the spring becomes the rose.
Learn to love without condition.
Talk without bad intention.
Give without any reason.
And most of all,
care for people without expectation.
This is the meaning and purpose of life.
Today I’ve learned that the power of love is greater than the power of fear.
I’ve learned that there is so much healing when you can can forgive others,
I’ve learned that wounds can heal, hurt fades away.
Our lives begin to end when we become silent about things that matter.
-Martin Luther King Jr
“Though my soul may set in darkness,
It will rise in perfect light
I have loved the stars too fondly
to be fearful of the night.”
You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’
Courage is moving forward when all you want is to stay still
Courage is facing your fear when all you want is to hide
Courage is embracing your pain when all you want is to pretend its not real
